My New Short Hair and My Little Cake...

Hey everyone! This is "life update" post... pretty much. :)

I took this picture not too long ago. I think its daffodils coming up or something. :D Spring is on its way! Right now when I'm writing this (Saturday), its gorgeous outside. :) I'll have to go out later...

Soo... This has been a pretty good week. I cut my hair for one. My mom chopped it, and I'm going to try to sell it... We'll see if that works. :D It's kind of weird holding a braid... that isn't on anyone's head, just saying. Haha.

Then later, I think maybe Thursday, I went to the salon and got my hair professionally cut. :)

Ta-da! My new picture! :D

Yesterday I went to this youth event our home- school group put on. It was quite fun, and I won first place in the dessert contest they were having! :)

Here's my most prize-winning cake. :D It is a three-layer chocolate coffee cake. Two layers are raspberry pie filling and the other is the white frosting on top of the cake. After it was frosted up, I added cocoa to the white frosting and made these brown swirls and decorations. The pink "pearls" are the finishing touch. :)

By the way, you can be jealous of my fifteen dollar Chic-fil-A gift card. smiley-happy Haha. :)

Onto book matters, I'm currently reading Judge, by R. J. Larson. Its the sequel to Prophet, which I've finished of course. I'll probably post my review on here sometime.

Isn't this a wonderful cover though? <3

My camera froze up one day, so I got a new, one. It still worked, but you don't want to take chances.
Anyhow, that gave me an opportunity to do a sort of camera photo shoot. :D So here's my camera legacy. (does that make sense? :D)

On the far right is the sony camera that started my journey of photography, I believe. *sigh* I think that was probably spring 2013.

This might be a  picture I took the day it all started. :D
That camera had problems. I think I started turning it on with the button that you push to look at the pictures... It seems like if you put your finger on the power button, it just turned off. :D Maybe you think I'm weird, but these cameras hold memories, you know. I want to keep the ones we have left, If my mom will give them to me. :D
Anyhow, I used an even older camera of my mom's when the sony stopped working.
This is a picture I took with that one. (can you see this life update post is turning into my camera history post? Ah, sorry. :D) It's actually a Nikon like my newest camera update. :) Except a lot older.

That sony camera started working again one day when I tried it, so I could use it again. :) It probably still works, but the charger is lost.

Anyhow, then my mom bought a new camera (in the middle of the picture up there) : the Kodak that has taken most of the pictures on this blog. :) The one that broke.

Thus, I got my dear Nikon, on the far left of that picture. That one is actually my newest of that particular model... but they look exactly the same, so... :)

There's my random sub-post of my camera history! :) Hope you didn't die of boredom... and my wacko-ness :D

Anyhow, expect to see a photography post of a river and woods and stuff sometime... I took those pictures the day of my last photo shoot. And expect some more recipes too. Sorry, I don't have any blog schedule. It can all be a little unpredictable, I guess. :)
 Until then... :)

Fantasy Love February Reading Challenge: Watch a Favorite Fantasy Movie Over

Okay, the last mini challenge. It was actually watch\read a favorite fantasy movie or book... But since I watched a movie, that's what I wrote in the title. :)

Anyhow, I watched The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. :) The Narnia movies (the newest ones, to clarify), are probably my favorite fantasy movies. Maybe not if you count fairy tale movies too...
Well in any case, I don't know if I would've picked this exact Narnia movie to watch or not, but this is the one my sister chose, so I watched it too. :)
These movies are really quite good: adventuresome, magical, allegorical... And while the other two movies have kind of depressing endings (especially Prince Caspian), this one doesn't. :D

Anyway, that is the movie I re-watched! :)

Photo Gallery: Little Outdoors Cutie

I love this photo shoot! My little roaming subject is such a cutie pie! :D Especially this first picture, in which I captured this adorable little smile!

So there's the adorable photo shoot! :)

Photo Gallery: Little Red Riding Hood

Hey, I mentioned I had done a photo shoot in my last post. So today, I am posting it! :) It's fairy tale themed- Little Red Riding Hood, as you have probably figured out.

This photo shoot totally turned out wonderful! Lucky for me, I have a born-to-be little model here, which really helps, you know! ;D

Really, I just love how it turned out... maybe its the vivid red scarf that really makes it enchanting. And those boots are soo cute with the whole outfit! She got those herself, without me telling her too. So cute. :)

So, get whisked into a little fairy tale for a little while. :D

So there it it! Photography is just.... just awesome. :)

I think I want to do more fairy tale photo shoots. Maybe I can somehow bribe convince a more reluctant someone to be Cinderella... HEHE... It's possible. :D

Well anyhow, I hope you enjoyed my Little Red Riding Hood photo shoot! If there happens to be any fairy tale that you think I should try to have a photo shoot themed about, please comment!

Awesome Finds at Goodwill and Some of My Art...

I got these things from Goodwill awhile ago... (totally awesome Goodwill! :D) Anyhow, here they are.

                                A CANDLE SNUFFER
This thing is really cool! It looks old, and it might be. It's kind of fun to put out candles with it! :)

A REALLY OLD BOOK

This book is called Myths Every Child Should Know. Myths... well, that might be kinds of strange. I don't know. But the thing that makes this book awesome is that it was published, (or at least copyrighted), in 1905!! That's like when cars were barely invented! :) And it was probably about two dollars. So yea, really cool.

Then I got this lovely stone-feeling bowl. For only 70-something cents, I think. Doesn't it look wonderful with soup in it? :D There were other cool dishes, but I couldn't buy them all...

I need to go to Goodwill again!!

And now here are some of my drawings and paintings that haven't appeared on this blog before...

Anyone recognize the wondrous mountie Jack Thorton? From When Calls the Heart??! He's wonderful. <3 I just drew it one night, from the movie cover. It was at the bottom of my sisters bookshelf, and I was sleeping on the floor by it. :)

Colonial couple :)
Maybe the man just got home from fighting in the Revolutionary War...

This is quite possibly the best hand I've ever drawn. :) They're hard without a model, but I had a model in this one.

I just painted this last night. It's a silhouette... maybe I'll think up a name for it sometime. :)

The sun has just retreated into the oceans depths, and all that's left in the sky is a splash of brilliant colors, which reflect on the water as a few birds take an evening flight...

That pretty much sums it up, right? ;)

I like this one. Not only does it look like the girl is on the edge of a pine forest, but it's a fantasy sort of painting, with a sword, and dragons silhouetted against an aurora that paints the dark night sky. :)

I painted this awhile ago. The tree branch could use help, but I like my nice little bird nest. :) I think I might have made it to be a hummingbird nest. :)

On a random note, here's something I've started doing.

I have these different colored index cards, and I write down verses on them. If they'd help if you're feeling fearful, I write "fear" on it. Or love, I write "love" on it. :) So yea... You can pull them out and find one that applies to your situation without having to flip through the Bible. :)

I just did a photo shoot today. A person one, to clarify, which I haven't done in awhile. And its totally wonderful! I'll have to post it soon, so keep an eye out for it. :)    (psst! Little Red Riding Hood :) )

I've been posting like crazy these past few days, so here are the links to recent posts:
