Drawings + An Old Spring Poem

Hey guys, coming in late! My apologies. I need to start putting more effort into my blogging.

I do have some drawings to show you guys, though. I just scanned them onto the computer. Just some flawed art that I don't think you've seen before.

This one is very recent. I used two pictures from Pinterest as reference to draw it.

This is from this book cover. I added clarity to this one and the one below, so they... look better? xP I draw so lightly.

This was a recent charcoal sketch. I don't think I took too long, as you can probably tell. But it actually turned out fine. I started drawing, and was like, ehhh... *winks*

Another flawed thing, yes. Her chin is much too short-looking. ;P But I like that it sort of has more value. I have a problem of drawing waayyy too lightly. Can you tell? ;P I probably used a black colored pencil in this drawing.

Are you guys excited for spring? I've already seen flowering trees and what look like daffodils! *grins* 

Winter's icy grip runs dry, the birds come out, the sun climbs high; bright buds adorn tree's barren limbs, flowers pop, green floods the fields from rim to rim. Warmth creeps into dour hearts, casts out cold like sun-dipped darts; winter flees before the spring, which adorns the earth with that it brings.

I'm no poet, for sure, but I just thought I'd put this on here; a cheesy little thing I wrote once when I was approximately three years younger. I do like the "sun-dipped darts" idea though... *winks and sticks out tongue* I only changed something in punctuation.

But spring is coming, guys! :)

Logy the Goldfish\\ Drawings

Meet our newest little pet...

Logy the goldfish! ;) We got it a few days ago because my sister needed it for biology. She gave it the name because biology, ya know. Isn't it a pretty fish? We've never had a goldfish, so we'll see how long it lives...

The fish "bowl" actually has marbles and other shiny things in it now, by the way. Much prettier. And I had to take the pictures before we put them in. *shakes head*

This is my latest drawing! Because I like eyes. :) I should really draw more often, but I don't always feel like putting forth the effort. ;P Called no motivation. Eh. But then I DO feel more accomplished if I do things that require effort.

It's been an overcast past few days. One night I woke up to some loud thunder... winter thunderstorms. :)

Valentines Day is coming! Not that I'm so excited, not having a dashing someone to bring me to a valentines dance... ;P I'm joking. 

However, we might go to our homeschool group's Valentines party at a rollerblading place. Last time I didn't roller-blade, but if we go I'll have to this time. ;D And even if I don't, there's lots of delicious things to eat! *heart eyes* 'Cause food. <3 So if we do that I might be fairly excited. ;)

Editing Pencil Drawings using Picmonkey

   Just like editing photos can be great fun, so can editing drawings. There's some great things you can do with Picmonkey!

   I drew this from a the book One Day You'll Know by Lauren Brooke (one of those Heartland books). 

   On the "touch-up" section of Picmonkey, I colored the picture in and maybe added more shadowing. We just use the free Picmonkey editor, so I maybe used eyebrow pencil to color the hair, or lipstick to color the eyes. ;P

    Then on "effects" I did some other things, like changed the coloring, added clarity, maybe added contrast. These are some of my results from playing around with it. :)

  This one is my fav. I changed the picture back to plain black and white, but with all the changes it looks SO MUCH more realistic! :D I love it, even though it makes my original drawing look dull and not-very-good. ;P

  After those awesome results, I had to try again. I used an eye I drew.

  Black and white after editing. OH MY GOODNESS IT LOOKS SO MUCH MORE REAL! ;P It looks a lot like the picture that I drew the original drawing from. It was a picture of my eye.

A Peak Inside My Art-Class Sketchbook

    So yesterday was the last day of our home school co-op classes, which we did every Friday for the last eight weeks. One of my classes was Art, taught by a professional artist! ;) On the Friday before last, our teacher brought our sketchbooks home with her to grade them. I got an A (though she almost wanted to give me a B for not doing enough... oops). :D AND she said that my portraits were amazing, and that I had amazing talent! Can you believe that a professional artist would think that about my drawings? =D

   Ahem! Anyhow, here are some drawings... some good.... some not-so-good, but it gives you an idea of what my sketchbook looks like. :) ... if you even care, that is. :P  

   This was from the very first class. Our teacher set up a still- life on the table and we had to draw it. I like the cloth folds, but the fruit was hard... I couldn't find much value, so it's almost all one shade of gray. :P

     Just drawing... for homework. We were supposed to have four pages front and back filled in our sketchbooks each week............... a goal I almost reached once. :P I should've tried harder to get enough! 

    Oh, the drawing about is a geode rock (my sister's) by the way.

    The next week we did another still-life. It's the drawing on the right page. The cup's shape is pretty... bad. The other page is a bunch of random stuff. And a value scale.

   On the third week, we learned about positive and negative space. Basically, your subject is positive space, and the background is negative space. So we did another still life, except this time we drew the outline, then filled in the space inside with black. Like a silhouette drawing. :) This one above is the one I did for homework. It's my candlestick and holder perched on some books. :)

    More at-home drawings. Hands are the perfect thing to draw when you don't have any subjects. Just draw your hand. ;)

    Sort of a quicker drawing that's supposed to be Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon... I need to do a better one of him sometime, because I like Hiccup. ;)

    I like this one. :) I sat on the couch and drew my dad's buck, which had pretty recently come from the taxidermist. :)

    Painting week. :) Here are some I did at home. The fun, colorful flower one...

   And, er, this just shows you what happens sometimes when I'm drawing random things. So I drew an apple, a leaf, an eyeball... then decide to draw another eyeball and finish the face, and the girl ends up with an apple sitting above her eyebrow, and a leaf on her forehead. :P

    This week was... um, something to do with rulers and straight lines, and everything matching up on houses and city-scapes. Not really my favorite, but yea. I like more messy, not precise drawing. Like people. ;) But anyhow, the picture above is my city-scape, half-finished as it looks. ;P

    Then, the best one of all: Portraits! =D My favorite thing to draw has always been people. So we learned some things about how to divide the face and where to put the eyes, nose, and mouth. Then we had to draw a lady from a picture. My result is above. Didn't exactly look like her, but that's what I got. ;)

     Here's one of my homework projects from that week. It's supposed to be my self-portrait, but it isn't quite right. I do think the nose looks fairly accurate. :) What do you guys think isn't right about it?

    And here's Anna. :) I really enjoy drawing animated characters like this! :)

    The week we turned in our sketchbooks, we all went outside and drew from what was around us.

       
       Then the last week we did another still-life, and some exercises to help us loosen up and draw faster. :) This drawing above is (if you can't tell. ;P) some animal skull in the still life. Lovely, right? :P

WHICH DRAWING DO YOU THINK I DID THE BEST?

June Highlights

  Well, June went by kinda fast. :P Did you think so? 

   I did a few things this month, but the real summer fun starts next month for me. :) I know. I just can't stop talking about it. :P 

Anyhow, here are some highlights from June 2016:

\\I helped out with vacation Bible school. Was a leader for the first time. :P (You've probably already heard this before. :P)

\\My mom and some ladies started a Bible study (which is almost over) and so I was one of the main people helping out with the kids... lots of kids. We usually did a little lesson with them too.

\\I'm getting better at crocheting. :)

\\I went swimming for the first time this year last week. ;) I should post the pictures from it soon. :)

\\We went garage sale-ing and shopping a bit this month. Getting clothes for our trip next month, and all. :) I bought a new purse too. It's small with a long strap, so I think it'll be nice. :)

\\We've been enjoying picking blackberries (if that's what they are) from the edges of our woods. :) It's pretty fun. 

\\A tree fell down during a storm. I have pictures of it in my June currently post here.

\\I won first place in the Ilyon Chronicles Fan Art Contest!! :D I was so excited! The winners and runner's up were posted here. :)

\\ AND I bought two books this month! Well three, actually. (think that's all.) So garage sale-ing I bought a book for my sister for 25 cents. :D 

Then, since I got a $30 amazon gift card for winning the fan art contest, I bought myself two books with some of it. :) 

I already got one: Resistance!! Now the lovely big book is sitting on my shelf! ^___^  

The other one is The Captive Maiden by Melanie Dickerson. :) I haven't read it yet, so it'll be fun to do so!

So... that's kind of about all we've done this month. :) 

Next month- whew!- Is going to be much more full of activity. 

Let me warn you: When I get back from vacation next month, this blog is going to be flooded. With pictures. Of mountains. And everything. SERIOUSLY. 

I'm probably going to be kind of stressed out trying to take pictures of everything! :P *dies!* I'm going to have to tell myself to just enjoy it, and not try to capture everything. 

I wonder if my camera card will even be able to hold all the pictures I'm bound to take. I had better take a safe drive just in case. :P
