Flawed yet Treasured

I think many people struggle with feelings of inferiority. Feeling less.

Ever thought "why would they like me?" I'm not that great. Seriously, what do they see?

Have you looked in the mirror and found your reflection lacking? One day you can be happy with how you look, but the next you're discontent. Too thin, too heavy, too pale, too young-looking, and the list goes on. You go to church, liking your outfit, but the second you see the other "perfect" girls, you suddenly don't feel so great about yourself. Inferior, young.

Don't fit in. Shy, and socially awkward. Feeling different from the others. You don't relate, you feel inexperienced and young. You wonder if they all think of you as some little mouse- afraid of your own shadow, incapable, and childish.

You wonder if you should act a different way. More mature, more outgoing. Sometimes you're weird, and sometimes you do humiliating things.

   Those feelings of inferiority. Less.

But you know what? NONE OF THAT EVEN MATERS. Who cares? You have someone who loves YOU for YOU! He  doesn't look at your faults and count you less. He looks at you with love and counts you His treasure! ;)

For You created my inmost being,
You knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:13-14

God designed you the way you are, and made you His own kind of beautiful! Don't listen to what the world says is best and most beautiful- that changes all the time! It isn't fact at all.

And those feeling of inferiority? Those are just lies. 'Cause we're all worth the same. Every human being is equal.

It may not seem that you are anything great, but that is only because you are yourself- you look deeper, closer, at your flaws than anyone else does. Many times, others won't even notice the thing that you're insecure about. Sometimes the person you look at as beautiful and "perfect" may be looking at you in the same way! Often our insecurities are because what we wonder and think of ourselves.

Of course, they aren't always. There are people who may look down on you. But even if they do, it really doesn't matter. You don't have to worry about what someone will think of your personality, or your appearance. Just forget it- let it go! We are all God's treasures, and it only matters how He sees us. So we can be confident in that. If you try to find worth and confidence in society, well, forget it! It is NOT worth trying to always have perfect make-up, hair, and clothes, and the perfect personality just to please people.

All your weirdness, blunders and blemishes really aren't worse than everyone else's. We're all messed up, but all priceless in God's eyes, just the same! :)
(by King and Country) Yep, this song again. ;)

This is the "inspirational" post (or something a lot like it), that I said I'd post... re-post. ;) These things are more what I can relate to, so they may not be your struggles... but I hope you got something out of it! :)

I definitely struggle with those feels of insecurity and being inferior to other girls ... so I understand. But you're right; in His eyes, we are priceless! And that's all that matters! <3

Yea, it's kind of freeing to remember that! We don't have to try to measure up to the world's standards. :)

  4. Girl, who knew you had all this in you?!?! This was sooo beautiful!!
You are so right--I've dealt with self-conscious feelings before, being concerned about what others think of me. But God stays the same, and HIS opinion of us is what matters, and HIS opinion will never change.
This was an awesome post, girl! I hope you do more inspirational posts like this in the future. =)

    1. Aw, thank you so much!
Yes, very true! We don't have to try please the world, because we already know how God sees us. :)
I'm glad you liked it! I guess I'll have to do more, when inspiration comes! :)

  5. This is something that I definitely struggle with! Such a good reminder that we have someone that loves us just as we are. :)

  6. So true! I try to remember that comparing myself to someone else always leads to sin. Either in not being happy with who God made me to be, or feeling like I am a little better than someone else (pride). Being an older woman now I realize it's an age old struggle, and so hard at times, especially for young women!
Don't believe the lies, don't settle for "normal", and shine for the Lord! Great post, Natasha!
