Bible Reading, Week 3

Not missing my weekly Bible reading post today. ;) Here are some interesting verses I've read lately.

And above all things have fervent love
for one another, "for love will cover
 a multitude of sins".

1 Peter 4:8

We have a stretch that we occasionally do to this verse. ;) I didn't realize this was the verse until I read the reference, because this is from a different Bible version.

Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; rebuke
a wise man, and he will love you.

Proverbs 9:8

Yep, this verse pretty much shows us what fools we can be. If we're wise, we're supposed to love correction. That's... hard.

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.

John 1:10-12

Sometimes you just realize how much the world does not receive Jesus. So many people don't believe, some believe in evolution, some speak of Christianity as though it's just another religion some people have, like Buddhism or something. It's like, "People, you don't even believe in the One who created EVERYTHING AROUND YOU! Everything you touch, everything you see, and you and every person around you. It's NOT just another religion- it's intimately connected to YOU!"
Yes, much of the world He created doesn't know Him, and much of His own, that He came to die for, don't receive Him.

But there is encouragement in this verse as well. If we believe in Him, we receive the right to become a child of God. That's pretty awesome. :)

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post, and got something from the verses I shared! :)
